Apple Makes changes to NFC policy

Here's what's happening: Apple is making changes to NFC access policy on its iPhones, allowing competitors to use tap-and-go for payments. The European Commission must approve this, and we will soon know their decision. With this update, applications can be used as main wallets, appearing automatically when you double-click on the side button or when you instantly touch the device to the payment terminal.
Historically, Apple has controlled NFC on its iPhones due to security concerns. This has led to Apple Pay becoming the dominant contactless payment service. Two years ago, the European Commission accused Apple of limiting competition because of this.
In January, Apple offered competitors free access to NFC technology on their devices. Additionally, they offered additional features such as the ability to disable preferred payment apps and access to authentication features such as FaceID. This will allow iPhone users to download alternative wallets and use them for contactless payments.
