So it finally happend, I got over 1000 followers here on dev.to :)
Thank you for your interest in my articles!
When I started blogging last year, I didn't think anyone would be interested at all, haha. Like, writing about JavaScript? Everyone can do that. Also, I'm not a native speaker, they probably don't even understand what I'm saying.
Point seems to be, not many people have time or motivation to blog, but since many people use JavaScript, many people will at least read it. My last discussion about unit tests showed me that there can never be enough content about the basics.
It also helped me to become a better developer. I started to get a firmer grip on the concepts when trying to explain them and I also started to question my practices after discussions. I even wrote a bunch of unit tests for a project I work on right now and it already catched a few bugs. :)
I think I gotten better at writing English. Always had a D in school, I was only worse at history, lol.
It also showed me that sometimes you have to work longer on things. Took over a year until someone asked me if I could write an article for their publication.
I also had an interview where they told me "Ah good that you blog, so I can add technical writing to your skills", didn't even know this was a skill somebody would care about.
Yesterday my React tutorial React From Zero also got a surge of stars, this is the project I'm working the longest time. Sure I only did a few commits over the years, nothing fancy new happening, but I always tried to keep it fresh. Now it got hundreds of likes and even became the second most starred tutorial on GitHub.
Few days ago I created a Patreon page, maybe somebody cares? I don't know much about how Patreon works.
Anyway, thanks again!
