Features and bugfixes and enhancements, oh my!
We were not kidding when we said it’s been a big release, so we’ll just capture a couple of our favourite highlights:
Nouveau for fulltext search
This re-implementation of Lucene fulltext search for CouchDB replaces and outperforms its predecessor, Clouseau. Nouveau is a thoroughly tested beta version that you can safely experiment with in parallel to Clouseau.
QuickJS is CouchDB’s new JavaScript engine
If you’ve been unhappy with SpiderMonkey, this one's for you. QuickJS is significantly smaller, faster, and more secure. In addition to all the benefits, the release includes a scanner that makes upgrading safer.
As mentioned these are just the highlights, so be sure to take a look at the CouchDB blog for the full release notes, and find more details and helpful notes on upgrading on our blog.
We look forward to learning how you find the new version.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Meetup!
