The BV doses resulted in a significant(p≤0.05) increase of antioxidant indices(TAC, GST, and GSH) compared to the control group.Furthermore, the Immunoglobulin A (IgA) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) were significantly (p≤0.05)higher in BV groupscompared to the control group. From these results, we concluded that BV had significant positive impacts on some semen quality traits, sexual behavior, blood biochemical parameters, blood antioxidant content, lipid peroxidation biomarkers, and immune response in V-line bucks. Background The modern study of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound recipes is a complex issue because of the large number of components in the recipes that would produce several metabolites after entering the body. The TCM compound recipes are known to have the advantage of synergistic treatment by multiple targets due to diverse components. Therefore, a research method that can reflect the overall effect of compounds with multi-components is essential. The pharmacological studies of the classic TCM compound recipes mainly use the sero-pharmacological method. It is a semi-in vivo study method, and the drug to be tested in the in vitro experiment is the drug-containing serum from the model animals (the drug to be tested is a mixed drug system containing the prototype drugs in animal bodies that have pharmacodynamic effects and the metabolites). Herein, a safe and effective external TCM recipe was used to develop another semi-in vivo experimental method to reflect the overall effects of TCM. Aim To intestinal absorption liquid prepared by the non-everted gut sac model increased and the intestinal relaxation activity was enhanced with the prolongation of the absorption time in a dose-dependent manner. And Pae and THP in a concentration-dependent manner caused relaxation of the rectal ring, which is pretreated with high K+(KCl) and ACh to induce contraction. The EC50 of Pae and THP was 8.67 × 10-5 M (6.68 × 10-5-1.13 × 10-4) and 1.41 × 10-4 M (1.24 × 10-4-1.61 × 10-4) in the contraction model induced by KCl, and was 6.15 × 10-5 M (4.47 × 10-5-8.45 × 10-5), and 1.31 × 10-4 M(1.22 × 10-4-1.42 × 10-4) in the model induced by ACh, respectively. Conclusion The intestinal absorption liquid of Guangtongxiao exerted a remarkable relaxation activity for the rectal rings, and relaxation of the smooth muscle tension might be one of the antispasmodic mechanisms of Guangtongxiao compound recipe. Also, adopting a semi-in-vivo experimental method to study the efficacy of topical external TCM recipe medicine is optimal.Ethnopharmacological relevance Geranii Herba, the traditional medicinal plants Korean and northeast China, has been used in the healing of a variety of gastrointestinal inflammation disorders. Geranium koreanum is a congeneric origin plant of Geranii Herba that can be used as medicinal plants with Geranium thunbergii, Geranium sibiricum, Geranium carolinianum, etc. However, the research of the biological active about Geranium koreanum is not enough yet. Aim of the study Gastritis is typically characterized by inflammation, irritation, etc. and it was commonly caused by factors such as stress, alcohol, smoking, and the used of an anti-inflammatory drug. Especially, excessive ethanol ingestion is an important cause of gastric disease mediated by mucosal damage by inflammatory cells infiltration. In the study, we investigated whether Geranium korenum, the well-known traditional medicinal plant, could a protective effect for gastric mucosal damages by HCl/EtOH-induced through the inflammation response analysis inent.Ethnopharmacological relevance The genus Bulbine (Asphodelaceae) is spread across Southern Africa and Australia and has been traditionally used for various medicinal applications such as treating skin diseases, burns, diarrhoea, and sexually transmitted diseases. Aim of this review The aim is to present a critical review of the ethnomedicinally important species of the genus Bulbine with a comprehensive overview of their chemical constituents and biological activities. Materials and methods This paper is an overview of literature published on the genus Bulbine in the last six decades with regards to phytochemical composition and their respective pharmacological potentials with the aid of data obtained from the search engine Google Scholar with string searches performed using keywords to obtain relevant publications from scientific databases including ACS Journals, PubMed, Science Direct, SciELO, Sci Finder, Springer, Tailor & Francis, The Plant List Database, Web of Science and Wiley. Results The literature sther confirmed with pre-clinical and clinical studies.Ethnopharmacological relevance Zanthoxylum nitidum (Roxb.) DC. (Z. nitidum), which is known in China as Liang-Mian-Zhen, is mainly distributed in southern China and is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is traditionally used for treating stomach ache, toothache, rheumatic arthralgia, traumatic injury and venomous snake bites. Additional medical applications include the treatment of inflammations, various types of cancer, bacterial and viral infections, gastric and oral ulcers and liver damage. Aim of this review This paper aims to offer up-to-date information on the botany, traditional uses, phytochemistry, pharmacology and toxicity of Z. nitidum. This review also discussed the perspectives for possible future research on Z. nitidum. Materials and methods A comprehensive review was carried out on studies about Z. nitidum conducted in the past 60 years by using different resources, including Flora of China, Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China and academic databases. Results At present, more than 150 chemical constituents have been separated and identified from Z. nitidum, most of which include alkaloids. Biological activities, including anti-inflammation, analgesia, haemostasis, anticancer and antibacterial, were determined via in vitro and in vivo studies. The variations in the efficacy of Z. nitidum can be attributed to the biological activities of its natural products, especially alkaloids. Toxicity studies on Z. nitidum are relatively few, thus requiring further study. Conclusions This article generalises the current research achievements related to Z. nitidum, which is an important medicinal material in China. Caspase inhibitor Some traditional uses of Z. nitidum have been assessed by pharmacological studies. Unresolved problems remain, including molecular mechanisms underlying biological activities, pharmacokinetics, toxicology and therapeutic effect, which are still being studied and explored before Z. nitidum can be integrated into clinical medicine.Caspase inhibitor
