Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) may serve as biomarkers for complex disease states, such as intracranial aneurysms. In this study, we investigated lncRNA expression differences in the whole blood of patients with unruptured aneurysms.
Whole blood RNA from 67 subjects (34 with aneurysm, 33 without) was used for next-generation RNA sequencing. Differential expression analysis was used to define a signature of intracranial aneurysm-associated lncRNAs. To estimate the signature's ability to classify aneurysms and to identify the most predictive lncRNAs, we implemented a nested cross-validation pipeline to train classifiers using linear discriminant analysis. Ingenuity pathway analysis was used to study potential biological roles of differentially expressed lncRNAs, and lncRNA ontology was used to investigate ontologies enriched in signature lncRNAs. Co-expression correlation analysis was performed to investigate associated differential protein-coding messenger RNA expression.

When lecithin, Ca3(PO4)2, or ground phosphate rock were separately used as sole phosphorus source, different phosphate-releasing modes were observed. The strain y2 was able to release as high as 2090 mg/L soluble phosphate within 12 days of incubation with Ca3(PO4)2 as sole phosphorus source. In the culture solution, high concentration of oxalic, citric, and malic acids and high phosphatase activity were detected. The organic acids contributed to solubilizing inorganic phosphate sources, while phosphatase was in charge of the mineralization of organic phosphorus lecithin. However, uptake remains low in Nigeria among adolescent girls. This study was a qualitative study that assessed mothers' acceptability and concerns regarding uptake of HPV vaccine by their adolescent daughters. In-depth interviews were conducted with 20 mothers of adolescents girls aged 9-15 years. A snowballing sampling technique was adopted to select the mothers within the community. Consent was obtained for the use of audiotapes, which were transcribed verbatim with thematic analysis of data. Mothers were between the ages of 30-49 years and most of them were traders. Almost all of the women have heard about cervical cancer, but their knowledge about cervical cancer and HPV vaccine was low. Despite their low knowledge, most of the mothers accepted that the vaccine is good and was willing for their adolescent daughters to take the HPV vaccine for the prevention of HPV. However, cost of the vaccine, side effects, and potential exposure of their daughters to promiscuity after taking the vaccine for protection were the major concerns expressed by the mothers as regards to HPV vaccine uptake by their daughters. Findings highlight the need for health promotion and education programs about cervical cancer, HPV, and HPV vaccine to increase awareness and knowledge among mothers of adolescent girls. Also, HPV vaccination should be included as part of routine immunization for female adolescents.This study aimed to establish a stable animal model of intrauterine adhesion (IUA) using a minimally invasive method that recapitulates the clinicopathologic characteristics of IUA. Mice were randomly divided into groups based on the ethanol treatment time (the EtOH-10 s, EtOH-20 s, EtOH-40 s, EtOH-1 min, and sham operation groups), and after the cervix was relaxed with phloroglucinol, the uterine horn was perfused with 95% ethanol through the cervix to induce endometrial injury. Eight days after the procedure, routine biochemical assays were performed to assess liver and kidney function; HE and Masson staining were used to assess uterine morphology and fibrosis; and immunohistochemistry was performed to evaluate the expression of CD31 and F4/80 in the endometrium. Furthermore, the fertility of mice in the EtOH-40 s group and the sham operation group was compared. As expected, the ethanol treatment time was positively correlated with the degree of uterine damage and kidney dysfunction in mice. In particular, the endometria of mice in the EtOH-40 s group were significantly thinner than those of mice in the sham operation group and exhibited severe necrosis, glandular loss, incomplete epithelial and glandular epithelial cell structure, severe tissue fibrosis, an activated inflammatory response, and a significant decrease in the number of fetuses, consistent with the clinical characteristics of severe IUA. In conclusion, this study resulted in successful establishment, by a minimally invasive transcervical ethanol perfusion technique, of a mouse model of endometrial injury, which could support an in-depth study of IUA pathogenesis and further promote the development of IUA therapies.learn more
