Today, I am going to review Vietnamese Street food. All the photos on this page are what I took during the trip. I will show you all the authentic Vietnamese street food I eat during the journey.

Food during Vietnam War

In Củ Chi tunnels

I went on a trip with a vegetarian colleague for two weeks. Because of her, every meal, I can only eat vegetarian food. HAIYA~ Vegetable tastes like sad. She cannot eat this, cannot eat that. This photo shows the food during the Vietnam war, which is a dry potato with no flavour. So sad. You eat this or die of hunger. During the Vietnam war, people were so hungry that they had no choice. An uncle told me he even has to eat dogs to survive. Please don't judge in this context.

Motorbike Local Street Food Tour

I can only eat proper street food on weekends when my colleage is not here. The most local way to get street food is to ride a motorbike. It's a lot of fun to drive in Vietnam, and the road is a mess. In Singapore, if you see the red traffic light, you stop. In Vietnam, you see red light; nobody gives a shit. That's what I love about Vietnam. You drive in the left lane, and suddenly a motorbike can come opposite you. You just need to go with the flow when you cross the road. People told me if you can drive a motorbike in Vietnam, you can drive anywhere in the world. Luckily I didn't break my arm.

Bánh Tráng Nướng (Vietnamese pizza)

First, people love to eat pizza, and we have Vietnamese pizza also. It uses rice paper, and you can eat a lot without feeling full. And you see the fire, don't give a shit about safety regulation, it's authentic Vietnamese street food. You cannot use an induction stove, haiya, so not satisfying.

Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese pancake)

Next, Vietnamese pancake, you see the Wok. And with real fire. But pancakes do not need tossing. And you eat the pancake with all sorts of fragrance, like morning glory, and smell so fragrant.

Bột Chiên (Fried rice flour cakes with papaya on top)

My favourite food is fried rice, but this one is more than fried rice. It's fried rice flour cake.

Nem Bò Nướng Sả (Smoky sweet and savory pork skewer)

Next is the pork skewer. Not bad, not bad. Pig is the smartest and also most delicious animal.

Bánh mì (Vietnamese baguette)

French people take over the country, and they're so mean. That's why Vietnam got a French sandwich.

Bún Bò Huế (Beef noodle soup from Hue)

CO AN, 001 BIS C/C NGUYEN THIEN THUAT, P.1 Q3, TPHCM

Pho noodle got specific shapes, and this one is not Pho. Instead, it is called Bun Bo, a bit spicy. And Hue is the name of the city. It is my favourite food, and sorry to vegan people, you know how many cows were killed to make this? In Vietnam, they don't know what is vegan. They don't give a shit. They just add fish sauce to a salad.

Bǔn Ca᷉ (Fish Cake)

Bun Ca is fish cake. I tried it before, so good. It's even better to add fish source. The fish sauce is like the queen of flavour MSG, Fuiyo. Everybody in Vietnam uses MSG. Flavour is like money. More always better.

And more..

And some more food. See? Look so good.

Chuối nếp nướng (Banana Sticky Rice)

378 VO VAN TAN, P.5. QUAN 3, TP. HCM

Fuiyo, time for dessert. Look at this. I like the auntie on the street making food better than a professional chef, like Jamie Oliver. In Thailand, you get Mango sticky rice. In Vietnam, you get Banana sticky rice with coconut. For some reason, you need to be very careful about this pronunciation (Chuoi Nep Nuong). Please correct me if I'm wrong. I know I'm going to fuck up. It got a very similar pronunciation to being horny. Don't get horny on the street. Although the food It's hot and white thing burst in your mouth, I mean the coconut source.

Dessert

It is a delicious dessert, like jelly and pudding. Sweet and salty.

Coconut Ice Cream

In this picture, I got two ice creams. But I am single and lonely. Why there are two ice creams in this picture? Haiya ~ One good part about being lonely is you can eat two ice creams simultaneously. I don't know what romance is. It's a dirty word.

Coconuts

This one is just coconut. In case you have never seen coconut before.

Coconuts Coffee

This one is my favourite drink now, coconut coffee. It's like frappuccino in Starbuck, but just a better version. I approved.

And more Vietnam coffee

And of course, we got Vietnam coffee, distilled coffee using condensed milk. It looks good, and the proof is in the taste.

Useful phrase to learn

One last point, let me teach you a useful Vietnamese phrase. Please correct my pronunciation in case I fuck up. Haiya. I don't want to make all your ancestors cry.

rượu (getting drunk)

The first word is rượu, it means getting drunk. If you are sad, get rượu. If you are happy, get rượu as well. It solves all problems.

Mot, Hai, Ba, YO (1, 2, 3, Cheers)

The second phrase is Mot, Hai Ba, Yo. It means 1, 2, 3, Cheers. It's easy to remember, Mot, like Motorbike, Hai (like saying hi in the pub to a lady), Ba (like saying bye, the lady doesn't want to talk to you and say bye), and then Yo. Now, everyone grabs your beer, and follow me to say together, Mot Hai Ba, YO~~~ YO ~~~
