Kalp Studio is a robust platform that provides tools and solutions for blockchain-related tasks, including creating custodial wallets. In this tutorial, we'll guide you on creating a custodial Polygon wallet on the AMOY Network using Kalp Studio.
Prerequisites
- A Kalp Studio account: Kalp Studio is a decentralised infrastructure platform designed to build, manage, and scale blockchain applications and networks. It serves as a comprehensive ecosystem for developers, offering a wide range of tools and services that simplify the complexities of blockchain technology, making it more accessible and efficient. If you don’t have an account yet, create one here.
- Basic knowledge about the Polygon Blockchain and AMOY Network.
Before diving further into the tutorial, let us cover some basic terminologies so we can follow this tutorial more clearly.
What is a Custodial Wallet?
A custodial wallet is a type of cryptocurrency wallet where a third party holds the private keys on behalf of the user. This type of wallet offers a simple and secure solution for users who may not want to be responsible for managing their own private keys.
Creating a New Wallet on Kalp Studio
Now that we have created our Kalp Studio account, it’s time to create the Custodial Wallet. Follow the steps below to achieve this.
Step 1:
Once you have created your account on Kalp Studio, you will be redirected to the Applications page.
Step 2:
Under the Applications section, click on the Go To Console button. After clicking this button, you will be redirected to the Kalp Studio Console Dashboard.
Step 3:
Next, on the top right corner of the dashboard, click on the + Connect Wallet button, and you’ll see the different types of wallets you can collect with Kalp Studio. In this tutorial, we will create a new wallet from scratch, so click the + Create New Wallet button.
Step 4:
After following the above step, you will be redirected to Kalp Studio’s Wallet page, where you can choose to create three types of wallets:
- Self Custody Wallet
- Custodial Wallet
- MPC Wallet
(Explore our official documentation to learn more about Kalp Studio wallets.)
For this tutorial, we will be creating Custodial Wallet. From the Select Wallet Type, choose Custodial Wallet and then click on Continue.
Step 5:
Now that we have initiated the process of creating a Custodial Wallet, since we will be deploying our wallet on the Polygon Blockchain and the AMOY Network, from the two dropdowns mentioned, choose Polygon as the Blockchain and Network as AMOY.
After clicking Continue, choose Kalp Studio as the provider, and click Continue again.
Step 6:
After clicking Continue, you will be redirected to a page that says,”Wallet has been created successfully”.
(Notice that you can copy your Wallet’s Public Key for future purposes).
To receive details about your wallet, balance, address, transactions, etc., click on the Wallet on the left sidebar, and you will see the information on the wallet.
Since our wallet’s current balance is MATIC 0.0, it’s time that we transfer some test tokens to our wallet. Let’s dive straight into it.
Transferring Polygon Faucets to our Wallet
To transfer Polygon Faucets to your wallet, go to Polygon Faucet, to successfully transfer faucets to your wallet, you need to connect your Discord account to this.
Once you have successfully connected your Discord account and followed the steps mentioned by the Polygon Faucet website, you can see a form where you will be asked to fill in the details.
- Under the Network dropdown, choose Polygon PoS (Amoy) and POL as the Token. You can copy your wallet’s address from the Wallet section of your Kalp Studio Dashboard and paste it into the Wallet Address section.
- Once you have filled in the details, click on the Submit button, and wait for a few seconds. Once the process is completed, refresh your wallet page on Kalp Studio, and you should now be able to see that the balance of your Polygon wallet is now MATIC 0.2.
If you followed the above steps correctly, you can now see that your Polygon wallet on AMOY Network has a balance of 0.2 MATIC, which can now be used for different transactions (Which we will be exploring in the upcoming tutorials).
Conclusion
Following this guide, you have successfully created a custodial Polygon wallet using Kalp Studio on the AMOY Network. This setup provides a secure and efficient way to interact with the Polygon blockchain without the complexities of managing your private keys directly. Kalp Studio’s user-friendly interface simplifies wallet management, making it easier for beginners and advanced users to participate in the blockchain space.
