Creating your Custodial Ethereum Wallet on Holesky Network, using Kalp Studio

Asjad Ahmed Khan - Oct 7 - - Dev Community

Introduction

In the blockchain ecosystem, a custodial wallet allows you complete ownership and control over your cryptocurrency assets without relying on any third party. Unlike custodial wallets, you hold the keys to your wallet, ensuring that only you can access your funds. This guide will walk you through creating your custodial Ethereum wallet on the Holsekey Network using Kalp Studio. Holsekey provides a secure environment to manage digital assets, while Kalp Studio offers a user-friendly interface for developing and interacting with blockchain networks.

The Holsekey Network offers robust tools to ensure the highest levels of security and autonomy for your wallet, and Kalp Studio simplifies the deployment and creation process. Whether you're a blockchain enthusiast, developer, or someone looking to explore the crypto space, this guide will help you start setting up your Ethereum wallet effectively.

Prerequisites

  • Kalp Studio: Kalp Studio is a decentralized infrastructure platform designed to build, manage, and scale blockchain applications and networks. It serves as a comprehensive ecosystem for developers, offering a wide range of tools and services that simplify the complexities of blockchain technology, making it more accessible and efficient. Create your account for free here. Follow the guide to create a new account.

  • Basic understanding of Holsekey Network: A blockchain platform that provides a secure and scalable solution for managing self-custodial wallets.

Utilising Kalp Studio to Create Your New Wallet

Now that we have created our Kalp Studio account, it’s time to make our new self-custodial wallet.

Step 1

After creating your account on Kalp Studio, you will be redirected to the Applications page.

Step 2

Under the Applications section, click the Go To Console button to be redirected to Kalp Studio’s Dashboard.

Step 3

Click the + Connect Wallet button on the Dashboard's top right corner.
(In this tutorial, we will create a wallet from scratch, so to create on click on the + Create New Wallet button.)

Step 4

After following step 3, you will be redirected to Kalp Studio’s Wallet page, where you can choose to create three types of wallets:

  • Self Custody Wallet
  • Custodial Wallet
  • MPC Wallet

(Look at the official documentation to know more about Kalp Studio wallets.)

For this tutorial, we will use the Custodial Wallet. Select Custodial Wallet and click on Continue.

Step 5

Now comes the most important part; after following step 4, when you have confirmed your wallet type to Custodial Wallet, since we will be deploying our wallet on the Ethereum Blockchain and on the Holeskey Network, from the two dropdowns mentioned, choose ETHEREUM as the Blockchain and Network as HOLESKY.

Selecting Blockchain and Network

Once we click Continue, you’ll be redirected to a page stating that your wallet has been created successfully.

(Notice that you can copy your Wallet’s Public Key for future purposes).

To receive details about your wallet, balance, address, transactions, etc., click on the Wallet on the left sidebar, and you will see the information on the wallet.

Since our current wallet balance is 0.0 ETH, it’s time to transfer some Ethereum Holesky Faucets to our wallet. Let’s dive straight into it.

Step 6

To transfer Holesky Faucets into our Ethereum wallet, we will use the Google Cloud for this tutorial. Navigate to the Google Cloud Web3 Console. You can access it here.

  • In the “Select network” section, choose “Holesky” from the dropdown.
  • In the “Wallet address or ENS name” section, fill in your wallet address.

Google Cloud Console

Once you have provided the necessary details, click “Receive 1 Holesky ETH”, and your transaction will be initiated (this can go on for a few moments). Once the process is completed, refresh your wallet page on Kalp Studio, and you should now be able to see that the balance of your Ethereum wallet is now ETH 1.0.

Google Cloud Platform

If you followed the above steps correctly, you can now see that your Ethereum wallet of Holesky Network has a balance of 1 ETH, which can now be used for different kinds of transactions.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You've successfully created your custodial Ethereum wallet on the Holsekey Network using Kalp Studio. You now have complete control over your funds, and you can interact with decentralised applications, send/receive tokens, and deploy smart contracts.

Holsekey's secure infrastructure and Kalp Studio's intuitive tools make it easy for anyone to get started in the blockchain space. With great power comes great responsibility—always take care of your private key and recovery phrase to ensure your assets are safe.
