A great book for startups to help you start your hiring process. You want to hire great, ambition employees to join your team - people like you! This book will explain just how to do that.
The creative block is sometimes more real than at other times. Getting out of a creative stump can be a creators' worst nightmare. And who said being a developer doesn't depend on being creative? Someone who isn't a developer, obviously. Here are some tips that may help for you the next time you need help getting out of that hole.
It's the design book for the...not so designers. It goes through typography, color, and layout so you'll understand the basics and fundamentals without going into the nitty gritty of it all.
There's EXPLICIT advice on programming in this book as well as general advice on how to be a programming / software developer. Talk about having a mentor all wrapped up in a book...but not, since you can't ask questions.
The essays in here are written between 2003 and 2006 and go through various concepts in software development at the time from agile methods, debugging, and maintenance, etc.
Books for Designers
Branding, retina images, design and development, accessibility, and of course photoshop. It's all in there. In one handy dandy handbook. How neat!
What does "modern design" or a "dynamic" design even mean? What does a client mean when they say they want something "professional"? This book explains all of that in terms you'll actually understand.
Books for EVERYONE
This is one of my all time favorite books. I have re-read it time and time again. If you do end up reading it or have read it, let me know what you think!
I fell in love with this book the moment I listened to its audiobook. The words in this book are very powerful and I highly encourage every person to give it a listen.
