Another week, another newsletter. Let’s get to it!
Around the Web
- It’s getting close to the end of the year. If you have an education stipend at work, use it! Josh W. Comeau has a great thread on where to use that stipend including his own course which is amazing btw!
- If you use GitHub Copilot, which I’be been finding super useful, they have a labs project. One of the projects to come out of their recently is the Code brushes. Christian Heilmann wrote about them recently. To use them, make sure you add the GitHub Copilot Labs extension for VS Code. As far as I know, this is currently available in VS Code. Take it for a spin and let me know how you find it! I’m going to take it for a spin myself!

Congrats to the SvelteKit team! A huge milestone hitting 1.0!

This was a great conversation on JS Party FM with Deno creator (and Node.js creator) Ryan Dahl. They talk all about web dev, Node.js, and of course Deno!
Fun Stuff
If you haven’t seen the new Wednesday show on Netflix, I highly recommend it. Even if you don’t end up liking the show, you have to appreciate the work of the actor who plays Thing (the severed hand character if you’ve never seen any of the Addams Family movies or TV show from the 1960s).
Words of Wisdom for the Week
Whenever you take on a new role at a new company, if there is an alum Slack or some alum community from your previous job, join it. I’m currently in four, and they are a great resource and a great way to stay connected with old colleagues.
Shameless Plugs
I gave a talk this past week at the Chicago JS Meetup about Fresh, a new full-stack web framework for Deno. Here’s the slide deck and the demo site source code.
Todd Libby, Sr. Accessibility Engineer W3C Invited Expert, & Lobster Roll Connoisseur, joined me to discuss the accessibility of things.
