Day 479 : Make It Better

  • Saturday : Woke up a little early to finish putting together the radio show. When that was done, I worked on my side project. I ran into some issues and was trying to fix them, but it kept seeming like everything I did would make it worse and not make it better. haha Played around with the code until it was time to do the radio show.   • Sunday : Did the https://untilit.works study group sessions and looks like I figured out the issues with my side project. It works, but there are some minor annoyances, but at least it's working! Feeling good, I ended the night watching the final episode of "Squid Game" season 1. Looking forward to seeing another season.

  • Professional : Today we had our offsite team meeting thing. Normally, everyone would go to a city somewhere in the world for a week and plan out things to come. The two meeting previous to me joining were in Amsterdam and Athens, so imagine my surprise that my first offsite would be in Miami! A city I grew up in and was like 3 hours from where I live by car. Had a great time though. Then of course the pandemic hit and basically everything became virtual. Hoping that in the new year, we can start them back up. Before and after today's meeting, I created some PRs, helped out with some community questions and worked on a demo application. Pretty productive. I want to get as much as I can get done, because I'm taking like 2 weeks off.

  • Personal : I'm pretty hyped that the main functionality of my side project is working. I basically had to set up a cron job to run every hour and send a notification to my application. Had it running all day and it seems to be working with no issue. Got like 2 more parts to the application and then I'll work on making it look nice.

Whew, I'm tired. Going to eat dinner. I've been slacking on my anime watching. I ant to see if I can get another piece of functionality working or at least start tonight. I may try and fix one of those annoyances that popped up with the fix. We'll see.
